RESPITE CONSULATATION WORKSHOP FOR CHILDREN AND ADOLESCENTS OF TRAUMATIC CHILDHOOD EXPERIENCES AND THEIR NEW FAMILIES An 8 hour workshop The workshop is intended for parents, professionals and Para-professionals who intend on developing a program/project of respite for children who experience attachment challenges and their parents within their communities. Each participant will receive a Respite Packet (20-30 page) developed by TATTAC. OBJECTIVES FOR RESPITE CONSULTATION WORKSHOP I. WHAT IS RESPITE A. Define Respite Provider B. Define Technical Assistant C. History – What has been completed nationally II. WHY RESPITE IS NEEDED A. Attachment Disorders Specific B. What we know nationally III. FOR WHOM IS RESPITE INTENDED IV. WHEN CAN RESPITE BE PROVIDED V. WHERE CAN RESPITE BE PROVIDED VI. HOW CAN RESPITE BE PROVIDED A. Respite Packet (Safety/Information) VII. DEVELOPING A COMMUNITY PROGRAM A. Clarify project as respite or technical assistance B. Accomplishments to date C. Identify options for funding D. Individuals involved in project 1. Project supervisor 2. Project committee E. Recruiting participants 1. Families 2. Respite providers F. Where will respite occur G. When will the respite project begin VIII. EVALUATION OF RESPITE CONSULATION WORKSHOP PRE-REQUISITE: Due to the intermediate level of understanding participants must have attended ATTACHMENT DISORDER I – IV offered by TATTAC OUTCOMES OF THE RESPITE CONSULTATION WORKSHOP Attendees will: 1. Be able to define what respite is and its important to families 2. Clarify who their project targets 3. Define where and when possible respite can be provided 4. Provide an outline of a pilot respite program defining a. who will participate b. who will supervise the project on a weekly basis and how the individual will be funded c. how often the project committee will met
